Is music only for the races who sing or make it?

I am an African-American and I love country music. Not all of, but I have my picks such as Shania, Rascal, Kenny R., and a few others. Some of my white coworkers look at me as if I'm an alien because I tune my office radio to country music. My black co-workers say I'm crazy. Why do people feel you should "stick to your race" when it comes to music as well? Afterall, there is some music in my race that I don't listen to. But I am a strong fan of Nelly, DMX, Janet, LL, and others....................
