Had a car accident, got a few questions to ask?

You had a single car accident and your note says the police came. Was there a citation issued? There isn't a need to report it to your current insurance if you have liability only as no other vehicle was involved. But you should have it repaired before you try to insurance it will full coverage at another carrier as you may have a hard time either getting coverage or if you were to have a new accident with the new carrier they could deny repairing some of the damage due to the previous. If you pay out of pocket to have it fixed, as your note said, then the claim will not be on your insurance report. If however, you were issued a citation then it will be on your MVR (motor vehicle report). Insurance companies use your insurance score, credit score and MVR to rate your insurance. Any blemish on those make your rates go up for 3-5 years.
